Since I have been this absolutely artistically inspired. During my stay at Sam Houston, I’ve been the only person in my class to be cast four semesters in a row. However I haven’t had the meatiest of roles, and even in community and professional shows I’ve done outside the department, it’s been the same dilemma. I’m grateful for every experience I get, and I’ve gotten to work on a huge variety of projects with plenty of different director, but I start getting a little disheartened when i put my all into an audition, am considered for several leads, and end up with a bit or chorus part.
That being said, I am so so so very thankful for Summer Rep. I get to be in two badass shows, Credeaux Canvas, and The Laramie Project, with, again, badass roles in each. Jamie in Credeaux as well as Jedadiah Schultz, Andy Paris, Aaron Mckinney, and more in Laramie Project.
I’m diving into research, I’m spending hours memorizing, and looking up images, and it’s been so long since I’ve been able to be excited for a project like this. It may just be summer rep, but I really feel like this is rejuvenating my whole spirit concerning theatre. And it’s just getting me more and more ready for auditions this fall.
